MISSION STATEMENT

African American Women in Higher Education of New England is an organization dedicated to the support and professional development of African American women working in Higher Education. It is our hope to encourage, enlighten, and empower these women in their professional and personal advancement. We welcome all women of the African Diaspora.

VISION STATEMENT

African American Women in Higher Education of New England will be the leading resource that affirms the significance of African American Women in Higher Education in New England.

ABOUT US


We provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for women working in the Academy to gather for support, networking, and recognition of our outstanding contributions to our places of employment and our communities. We seek to empower women through: Connections, Collaborations and Commitment to Excellence. 


Connections: AAWHE-NE hosts social and networking opportunities, including the annual African American in Higher Education conference, for members to gather and discuss issues salient to African American women. 


Collaborations: AAWHE-NE seeks to work with local and regional professional organizations to increase the representation and participation of African Americans in higher education.


Commitment to Excellence: AAWHE-NE examines and discusses trends in best practices in higher education with a unique focus on African American women.
